1. Acceptance of these Terms
By downloading, accessing or using BoardGame Friend, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, you must not use the app.
BoardGame Friend is provided by BoardGame Studio, trading as BoardGame Friend.
2. Eligibility and age
You may use BoardGame Friend only if you can lawfully enter into these Terms and comply with applicable laws. If you are below the age at which you can consent to online services in your country, you may use the app only with consent or authorisation from a parent or legal guardian.
We may refuse, suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe a user is not eligible, has provided inaccurate age information or is using the app in a way that creates risk for other users.
3. Accounts and profile information
You may need an account to use certain features. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your account information up to date and protect your login credentials.
- You are responsible for activity that happens through your account.
- You must not impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
- You must notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.
- You can request account deletion through the app or through our Data Deletion page.
4. Acceptable use and user conduct
You agree not to use BoardGame Friend to:
- Harass, threaten, abuse, discriminate against or harm other users.
- Upload illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, misleading or infringing content.
- Collect personal data from other users without permission.
- Use bots, scraping, reverse engineering, automated access or security testing without written permission.
- Interfere with the app, servers, networks, accounts, security features or location features.
- Organise illegal activity or activity that creates unreasonable safety risks.
5. Board game meetups and offline safety
BoardGame Friend may help users discover nearby players, events, groups or places. We do not control offline meetings, venues, transportation, behaviour of other users or third-party events.
Safety reminder: Meet in public places, tell someone you trust where you are going, use your own judgement, and report suspicious or unsafe behaviour to us and, where necessary, to local authorities.
6. User content
You may be able to upload or share profile information, photos, files, QR codes, messages, event details or other content. You keep ownership of your content, but you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, process, display and use it as needed to provide and protect the app.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights and permissions needed to upload or share your content. We may remove content that violates these Terms, applicable law, platform rules or the safety of the community.
7. Location-based features
Location-based features may show nearby players, places, events or distance information. Location results may be inaccurate, unavailable or delayed. Do not rely on the app for emergency, navigation, personal safety or time-critical decisions.
8. Third-party services
The app may integrate services such as Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, push notifications, maps, geocoding, app links, app store services, file pickers, camera functions or sharing tools. Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for services that we do not control.
9. Advertising, purchases and subscriptions
BoardGame Friend does not currently include ads, paid subscriptions or in-app purchases.
If we introduce ads, purchases, subscriptions or premium features in the future, we will update these Terms, provide any required pricing and cancellation information, and follow the applicable rules of Google Play, Apple App Store and consumer protection law.
10. Availability and changes
We may update, change, suspend or discontinue features at any time. We try to keep BoardGame Friend reliable, but we do not guarantee that the app will always be available, error-free, secure or compatible with every device or operating system version.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe that you violated these Terms, created risk for other users, misused the app, infringed rights, violated law or attempted to interfere with security or operation of the service.
You may stop using the app at any time and may request account deletion through the app or the Data Deletion page.
12. Intellectual property
BoardGame Friend, including the app design, name, logo, software, interface, text and other materials, is owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease or create derivative works from the app unless permitted by law or by written permission from us.
13. Disclaimers and liability
To the maximum extent allowed by applicable law, BoardGame Friend is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that users, events, venues, recommendations, location results or third-party services will meet your expectations.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for intent, gross negligence, death, personal injury or mandatory consumer rights.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights that may apply in your country of residence.
Disputes will be submitted to the competent courts in the Netherlands, unless mandatory law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the app, our business, platform rules or legal requirements change. The latest version will be available in the app and on our official website. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice where required.
